What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a condition where the median nerve is compressed at the wrist. This nerve travels through a "tunnel" of bones and ligaments as it is passes from your forearm to your hand. When this tunnel becomes enlarged or swollen, it can lead to numbness or tingling in your hand, especially at night. It can also cause clumsiness and sometimes pain that goes up the arm as high as the shoulder.
